Merry Christmas!

You could blame us for a lame two weeks of not posting... OR... you could be happy that we've waited for some totally cute pictures.  I'll let you be the judge of that as soon as we get back to MN and are able to post these!  

It's Jacob's first Christmas and we're in GB with our families after a white knuckle morning drive with the Wilson family.  Andrew looks so big, it's so cool to see how he's growing and imagine how big JT will be next year.  Wearing his I love Santa outfit, Jacob received some amazing gifts from his loving family.  We are blessed to have such a great family and support system.

On our way into town, Jacob stopped by his late Grandpa Terry.  It was an emotional time for dad, but another part of the growing process as a father.  Duncan was a good boy as usual, afraid of the wipers, as usual and sleeping, as usual.

Lots Going On!

Well, we "survived" a lot over the last few weeks! Jacob had his first week of school (arguably harder on us than him), we are getting closer to a consistent schedule, and Jacob is working through his first cold. Ewwwww...

It could be the first week of daycare and adapting to germs, but something is going around and he's got his first fever as well as his first day home from school. With the first day off from school, comes the first time Melissa and I have had to plan around our work schedules. As usual, not a problem - we're going splitzies tomorrow... we're a awesome team if I may say so myself.

It's quickly approaching XMAS and Jacob's 3 month birthday - this last weekend he got to meet his cousins Ava and Grace! He also got to see Aunt Diana and Grandma Karen. The girls brought Jacob some of their old toys, a really selfish gift and much appreciated. He's loving the sights and sounds of his guitar. We got to spend some great time together and showed them how JT likes to laugh and smile. Below are a few pictures of the weekend, another great time to spend with family and friends.

On a more personal note, our cousin Mick is leaving for basic training in San Diego next week. We wish him all the best and ask that you help us pray for his safety. Mick was adopted into our family when he was five and we have enjoyed watching him grow-up and change as the years have gone by. In all of the uncertainty this world can provide, it couldn't be more certain how much we love our family members. It will be difficult not to wonder, worry or think about him in Cali, but we can trust that his heart is true. For Uncle Mike, Mick and the entire family, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

First day of school, first day of school!

Hello everyone! I know it has been a while since a post. We have had a lot going on so I will catch you up on everything! Thanksgiving was fun. We went to Uncle Kevin and Auntie Melissa's. There was a ton of people and a ton of food. We got stuffed! Then Uncle Greg and Aunt Marla came to visit from Green Bay. They stayed at my house for the weekend. This was my last weekend home with mom too. She had to go back to work today.

Here is my picture of my first day of school. I slept very well for mom and got up about 6am. I ate good and them mom got me dressed in this neat puppy outfit. I got this new hat over the weekend from Sandy. She made it for me. I thought it would look pretty cute with my new outfit. Mom and Dad brought me to school. I got to meet some new friends and my new teachers. They said that I had a good day. Mom only cried a little when she dropped me off.

This is my cousin Ciara. She got baptised this weekend. She looked very pretty in her gown. She likes to laugh a lot and smile. She is 6 months old. I can't wait to play with her when I get a little bigger!

So, as I look back on my Turkey day weekend, I think about the fun times I had with all of my family and friends. I hope all of you had a good Turkey day too. Just think, next year I actually get to eat that bird!!!

2 months old!

Hello everyone, Jake here!  I just wanted to say hello and let you know that I am 2 months old now.  I had my doctor appointment today and she had many good things to say!  I am now 23 and 1/4 inches long which falls in the 75th percentile for height.  I weigh 12 lbs. 13.5 ounces which falls in the 80th percentile of weight!  Developmentally, I am right on track.  I hold my head up good, wiggle my arms, look at objects, focus on Daddy and make cooing sounds!  I am also discovering that smiling is pretty cool.  I also am a bit ahead of the game because I can roll over from my tummy to my back.  I had to show off for Dr. Saxton today!  She was very surprised!  

The bad part of my day were the shots!  I had to get 3 of them in my legs.  I cried, but mom gave me some Motrin and I felt a little better!  

Anyway, I hope all of you are doing well.  I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.  I will be hanging out at Uncle Kevin and Auntie Melissa's for the day.

Getting so big!

Hello everyone!
We had a good weekend. My mom and Aunt Pat came out to visit. For my mom's birthday present this year, I bought her tickets to see the play Wicked. It was amazing. If any of you get a chance to see it, go! It is worth every penny. It was a short weekend, but we had fun nonetheless.

Jake is getting to be a big boy. He is holding his head up really well and is starting to smile and laugh. He stays up for longer periods during the day and is sleeping for about 4 hour intervals at night. The picture to the right is so cute. Adam took it while Jake was sleeping on the couch and Duncan jumped up and gave him a little kiss.
I took the picture below the other day while we were playing. It is so cool to see his eyes and watch him look around at everything. My favorite thing is when he sees his hands and looks at them with such wonder. It is pretty cute.

We went to my friend's wedding and it was the first time that he decided he would spit up. Not just any little spit up, but a full belly throw up right on the front of my dress. Yes, my black dress. Now, I know that black and white go together, but not in this case! It was easy to clean up though and I think he felt better after that burp!

I only have 2 weeks left before I go back to work. Bummer. I really like staying home with Jake and watching all of his new developments!
I can't believe Thanksgiving is around the corner.

5 hours!

Jake was a sleepy guy last night.  He slept for 5 hours straight!  I can't remember the last time that I slept for 5 hours in a row.  It was great!  He is going to have to visit Uncle Kevin's more often.  We had a wonderful anniversary dinner last night.  Adam and I ate at Palomino. Very good food.  I had my first glass of wine and it was yummy.  

I hope you all have a good day.  Stay warm and dry.  We actually got about an inch of snow overnight. Kind of cool, but I am not sure I am quite ready for that!

I'm getting so big...

Hello all~
Usually mom and dad write stuff, but this time I thought that I would fill you in on a few things about myself.
I am now just over 6 weeks old.
I recently went to a wedding. My mom's old roommate got married this past weekend. Yeah, I shook up the dance floor and showed some people some groovy dance moves.
I also went to the doctor yesterday because I still look a little yellow in the cheeks from the jaundice. The doctor said that I am fine. I go back in 2 weeks for my 2 month check up and a bunch of shots. I am not looking forward to that at all. I now weigh 11 lbs. 5 oz. Yeah, I am getting big. I also have moved up a size in the diaper category. I now wear #1. However, mom and dad have to make sure that they put it on pretty tight, or "boom goes the dynamite" if you know what I mean.
Mom went to the doctor today and she is doing well. I like hanging out with her during the day. Tonight she is going to meet dad downtown for dinner to celebrate their 3 year anniversary. It is technically tomorrow, but tonight was the only night this week that my Auntie Melissa and Uncle Kevin could watch me. So, I get to hang out with them tonight. I am excited for that!

For now, I sign off. It is time for a nap. The weather is really crappy today anyway. Oops, sorry about swearing mom:(

Long time, no type...

Hi Friends -

It's your favorite dog, Duncan. Much attention has been paid to my brother Jacob, and it should... that way I get away with more stuff and no one notices (like stealing socks and diapers). Yes, we did have a terrific Halloween and I even got a delicious chewy snack after we got home from David and Beth's. Check out my sweet costume I beat the cats up for. I won it fair and square.

Yes... that's right, sweet horns.

Anyway, I just wanted to send a note and let everyone know how good I've been with my little brother. I am showing him the ropes, teaching him how not to get caught and he's been sneaking me treats from the cupboard.

Mom caught me giving my brother tons of kisses while she was getting ready. He was so cute lying there in his bouncy chair, I couldn't help it. I gave him a good bath, but only because I love him. Shoot, my tapping on the keyboard woke him up - I gotta bounce.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! We had a great weekend. On Friday, we went to Dave and Beth's house. Andrew just recently turned one and was a very ferocious tiger. He was very cute. He kept crawling around the house on his hands and feet (not his knees), so he actually looked like a little tiger. We tried to get him to "roar", but not very successfully. He did a little trick-or-treating with his dad while we stayed back and handed out some candy!

The votes were final and here is our little pea in the pod!! There is a story behind how we got this costume though. So, here goes: I went to babies r us about 2 weeks ago and they had at least 20 of these little costumes. They were 40% off, which I thought was a good deal. However, I did not pick one up. Dummy me. Adam and I went the night before Halloween to pick it up and when we walked in, they didn't have any left. So, we were going to opt for a little blue monster with 3 eyes on the hood. For 6$, you can't go wrong. We walked around for a bit and made our way back to the front of the store to the rack of very few costumes left. I walked to the other side and there was a little green pea in the pod on the end. So, fate stepped in and for 5$, our little man was the cutest little veggie this side of the Mississippi!

1 month - a million laughs

It's been one month with Jacob Terry, he is doing great - growing, sleeping and developing a lot. Here are some things we've been learning as parents:

• Being on time for events is tough!
• If you don't keep your blog updated, people notice... and let you know :)
• Sleep is optional and that's OK sometimes.
• You stare at your child a lot.
• Your child stares back at you a lot too - I wonder what they are thinking!?
• You can't say thank you to friends and family nearly enough.

This week we had a full week (insert funny diaper joke here)...

We got some amazing gifts - clothes from UMD (wow, he will be a stud), bath toys from Madi Padgett and books. Jacob has been sleeping in his crib really well! His schedule is shaping up and he is staying awake between feedings much more which is a blast! He has also begun enjoying bath time more and focuses on us more as we talk to him. It's super cute to see him look at us and acknowledge where we are and that we are his parents.

This was our first visitor free weekend, a little bittersweet, but there was lots to do and clean! We went to a wedding for our friends Adrienne and Jake in Minneapolis, they looked great. We were the fashionably late couple who unsuccessfully snuck in after the salads were served. Slick, real slick...

Duncan is loving his brother and doing great, I am sure he'd love to post after his nap - he has plenty to share. Below are a few pictures, enjoy! We'll try to get better about posting, promise.

3 Weeks old!

We had some more visitors over the last 2 weeks, so we have been a little lazy with the blog posts, sorry! We also needed to get some new pictures as well! Grandma Karen came out to visit last week for 4 days. Great Uncle Mike, Scott, Mick and Joey also came out last weekend. We made a trip to the Apple Orchard, ate a Buca, and spent some time just hanging out. One very crazy picture you will see here is Adam when he was born with his Uncle Mike. We took a picture similar to this with me and Jake. Can you see anything familiar about Adam and Jake between the 2 pictures? We also wanted to note that Uncle Mike's hair has not changed much over the last 27 years. Now Mike, this is the 21st century, get with the times!

Aunt Diana and Uncle Chad came out this weekend to visit. Auntie Diana got a new tattoo, but mom says that Jake can't get one quite yet! We had pizza and watched baseball on Saturday night. Dave, Beth and Andrew came over to visit as well.

This is the first picture that we got of Jake smiling. When he is starting to doze off, he makes a lot of faces and smiles a lot. I had Adam grab the camera and stand ready to get a picture of him smiling so we could post it. Isn't he cute.

Great News!

Jacob is officially done with the bili-blanket!  He got a blood draw today and his bilirubin count went down by over 4 points to 13 (This is a good number... typical babies have a bilirubin count between 0 and 6, adults have a count of 1).  So, although 13 may still seem high, he does not have that wonderful yellow shine to his face and the doctor was very pleased.  He also gained some weight, which also helped!

We are very pleased that the blanket goes away tomorrow and Jake can start wearing clothes everyday!

Big Weekend Ahead!

Here's a quick update on Jacob - nearly 2 weeks old. We're still running around with the light blanket, the jaundice hasn't gone down much - but not up a ton either. We are hopeful we can rid ourselves of the blanket soon. Here's Jake with a few comment's on the light blanket... Jake...

In other news, grandma Karen is coming in tonight from Green Bay. I took off of work for the week and have really enjoyed being home with Melissa, Jacob and Duncan. A few naps due to sleep deprivation, but we're doing great. Duncan like going to the field to play fetch and we're able to do that at least once a day. Uncle Mike, Scott and Joe are coming in on Saturday as well - it will be awesome to see them, they are such great family.


Congrats to Brzeski on completing his 2nd marathon! Just under 4 hours. I look forward to running the Green Bay marathon with him in May.

Little Parts!

We took some pictures in the lat day or so. It is amazing how little people are when they are born. I am completely enthralled in all of Jacob's features. I took a nap with him the other day and Adam took a picture of Jake with his hand on my face. Now, he does have fairly big hands for a baby, but you can see how little he is compared to me.
I also absolutely love his feet! They are so cute. I constantly am playing with them. Adam took a picture of his feet while he was sleeping on the couch when he stretched, his little feet cam out of the bottom of the blanket!
Then, it was Adam who fell asleep next to Jake on the couch and he had his hand next to Jake's head. His face is so sweet and although he is still pretty yellow from the jaundice, his bilirubin count was down as of Friday. We go back in to get his blood taken tomorrow. Hopefully they will let us know that it is even lower!

H O M E

Yippee, hooray, yahoo, booyah!  Whatever the expression, it's all smiles here.  We're home and enjoying the comfort of our own home.  Jacob is doing great - bili count down to 13.4, they will be coming to check tomorrow and will continue to monitor.  We got a sweet bili blanket to take home, he can continue to be our little glow worm...  He was not at dangerous levels, just a pesky few days.

Parenting is Great!

Only a few short days into parenting, but below are a few less than obvious indicators that we are parents. Jacob is going to spend another night in the hospital, but we have faith he will come home soon. Jaundice is annoying... nonetheless, he is very healthy outside of this and he is an amazing blessing.

We've become parents:

• We've sleep in the hospital on a chair that folds into a bed. Comfort level negative 50.


• We cheer for poopie diapers (get rid of the bad jaundice "bilirubins")


• Crying is cool, burping is acceptable, farting is bliss.


• Our baby recognizes our voice and turns his head to see us.


• We've looked at one another and said, look what we have created.


• We've had a complete stranger say "I knew that was your baby," when we looked into the nursery.

We're so excited, we want to bring Jacob Terry home. Patience and healing... let's make tomorrow the day!

The Tuesday Update

Hello everyone!

We wanted to post an update about our boy.  We are still at the hospital and Jacob is still in his "light cave".  He is eating well and his bilirubin count went down as of this morning.  They will do another test around 3 and hopefully it will have gone down again and we can head home this afternoon.  That way, Daddy and Jacob can watch the Twins in high definition!  He will likely get sent home with a bili-blanket in order to continue to help him break down those bilirubins!  He is such a joy and has been a trooper through this whole thing.  

We are praying and crossing our fingers that today he will finally be introduced to his new home!

Jacob Update!!

Hello everyone -

First off, I can't thank everyone enough for all of your love and support! We are so blessed to have great friends and family! We really want to thank our neighbors, Joe and Lisa, for helping out and taking care of Duncan the past couple of days.

I also want to thank my mom for hanging out with him today and doing some of our laundry!! Yay, I don't have to fold clothes!

Jacob is doing well. He is still in his "light cave" because he has the jaundice. His "bili" count was pretty high, so he will have to stay and extra day. I will be discharged later, however, we get to stay in the room that we are in so that I can continue to feed him. He only gets to come out every 3 hours for 30 minutes. So, we don't get to see him much, but he doesn't look as yellow as he did yesterday! We will keep you all posted as we get more information too!!

What? No pictures? Yet... not until I get home tonight, so stay tuned.

I wish you could see what I do right now. Melissa is so tired, she fell asleep holding Jacob while her mom and I ran to the cafe. This is a beautiful sight.

Jacob Terry arrived at 11:09 AM weighing 7 lbs, 10 1/2 oz. He was 20 inches long. Mom and Jacob are doing very well. It's been a long night! We watched the Twins comeback win with the Ertl's and caught a nap before I got the "go-time" wake-up at 1:30 AM.

We arrived at the hospital at 2 AM and were being monitored to estimate when Jacob might come. The staff here is crazy good. We've been up all day and the excitement of being parents makes it really hard to sleep! Oprah's on... maybe that will lull me to sleep.

Tonight I will be sleeping at home and getting Duncan used to the scent of the baby. He's a great dog, should be no problems. Pictures and more to come.

Doctor Visit - Weekly Now...

We're coming into the homestretch of pregnancy, we now make weekly trips to see the doctor and monitor the progress. Melissa has been doing very well, the nights have gotten a little uncomfortable - but she handles it like a champ as always. I've offered her to wake me up if she can't sleep... little did I know what I was signing up for. A small sacrifice for all she has been going through.

At the doctor we got a cute onesie that says "Parkview Special Delivery" (name of our clinic). It's super cute. Dr. C said everything looks awesome! Here's the kicker...

Baby's head has "dropped"! Baby is preparing himself, herself, itself for the real world. Baby is getting ready, but that's all the progress so far. After the doctor, we went to Buffalo Wild Wings (Melissa really wanted to go).

This weekend we continue to do baby's laundry and get the room all set - we're waiting to get some wall decor until baby arrives.

Booze Hound Sports Fans!?

This past weekend we had the baby shower in Minneapolis hosted by my fabulous sister-in-law at her house. (Okay, my brother lives there too!) It was so much fun. The food was as great as the company. I had a lot of good friends from work come as well as some friends we've made over the years of living here!

We started off with some food and chatting. Then, we played some games. The first game we had to guess what food was in the unlabeled food jars. Of all people, I got the most correct. I even beat out some of the gals who are mom's!! Then, we played a game similar to Balderdash for all you board gamers out there. The rule of the game was to guess what events lead up the the night of baby making. The person with the most votes won a prize and the person(s) who guessed the actual events that lead up to baby making also won a prize! None the less, most of the stories consisted of some type of sports game and alcohol (WI roots), whether on TV or at the actual game. So, interesting that everyone thinks that we are alcoholic sports junkies!! The crazy thing of it all is the person who actually got the most votes. That would be my 4 year old niece!! Melissa (my sister-in-law) asked her what she thought Auntie and Uncle like to do. In her mind, we did the dishes, played with Duncan and went to bed to sleep.

After some red cheeks and lots of laughs, we opened some gifts. We got a lot of great things from books and toys to clothes and butt paste for those diaper rashes! One of my good friends made a diaper tree. Check it out!

We thank everyone who came out and brought some wonderful gifts for the baby. We are very blessed to have such great friends and family!! I go this Friday again for my 36 week check up. I will keep you all posted on anything new. It could be any day now!!

Home for the Weekend

Long overdue post, apologies...

We went home last weekend for the Baby Delveaux shower. We are so blessed to have an amazing support system of friends and family. First, a huge thank you to our mothers for hosting and getting everything together - you both were terrific. Second, it was phenomenal to see everyone there.

Being a boy, I ran off with the other boy (Jack) to have lunch and a beer at Titletown - soooo good! Good food, great beer, terrific company. Coming home I was a bit overwhelmed to see everyone. Neighbors, friends, friends of the family and family - what a great turnout. I shared then how fortunate we are to have such great support - it was cool! I saw my Aunt Karen and her family who I haven't seen since Uncle Cliff passed away in summer. I think about them often and they are such a strong family, it was great to see them all doing well. Our prayers continue for their strength and comfort.

Melissa showed me all the fun gadgets, what they did as well as how to use. I am still learning. I didn't need any teaching about the toys! Only to share :( Again, thank you all of coming and all the love and support. Baby Delveaux is coming into a great family.

I also had the privilege of going to Lambeau field again! Mom and I went to see the Packers take care of the Vikes. This was big for my football ego as I have been bragging my team up around the office. If we lost, I may as well have turned in my badge. Below are a few pictures of the game... dynamite!
