Baby Update!

So, since I have to sit here and watch baseball for the hundredth time this week, I thought I could post an update from the last couple of weeks.

We went to the doctor yesterday and everything is still going well.  The baby is 28 weeks and 6 days.  Only about 11 weeks to go!  How time does fly.  I am doing well.  I look like I am carrying a bowling ball under my shirt.  Now that the belly is bigger, it is a little more difficult to get comfortable.  I can't stand the fact that I can't lay on my stomach.  That is hard to get used to.  I feel good for the most part.  I still eat a lot.  No weird cravings though.  

We have been slowly working on things around the house.  We put a storage shelf up in the garage to store bins and things out there now.  We aren't going have the extra bedroom anymore for storage.  We got a screen door for the front so that we can actually look out that way.  I think Duncan will like it, considering our windows are 3 feet up off the ground, so he has to stand on the arm of the couch to peek out the window.  Adam and our neighbor Joe are going to conquer that project this weekend.  We also have some new faucets for the bathrooms.  The ones that they put in leak:):)  As they do that, I will be working on the nursery more.  Maybe move the furniture around to where I actually want it to go!

Our new favorite toy is the camera that we bought.  We wanted a nice camera that took quality pictures.  It's a Canon Powershot and it is amazing.  The pictures are great.  We've only had it for about 2 days, so we haven't hooked it up to the computer yet.  Once we figure out more, we will put some pictures up!!!

A Picture is Worth...

How cool is this! Our family will be expanding in about 12 weeks... Amazing.

Did you see the size of that raccoon?

This last weekend we went camping near Faribault, MN - the usual spot for us.  The Storms family went with us and we had a great time!  We woke up Saturday morning and John and I were on our way to get more firewood at a local farm.  Then... sprinkles.  We flipped around in the car and headed back to camp to rescue our ladies with a canopy.  

This canopy was our home for the next 14 hours.  Rain.  Thunderstorms.  Tornado watch... its never cool to see a posting from the rangers about a tornado watch when camping.  Nonetheless, we were safe and enjoyed playing cards for a few hours.  The canopy held up, but our air mattress leaked and their tent was a bit wet.

We had just gone to bed when we heard a little rustle outside.  *** Backstory is that last month we had visitors and Melissa wasn't sure what raccoons would do or if they would bother us.  She may have kept me awake by saying they were "calling their friends," and asked me if they were going to open the cooler.  It was hilarious.  ***  This time the raccoon was really brave, we just went to bed and he was out.  Melissa wanted to get a look, so she flashed the light outside.  This thing was a huge, hadn't missed a meal in years.  We now know what a campground animal eats like.  This thing was 2x fatter than Duncan and just shorter than him.  He was brave too!  He went right up to Duncan's dishes and pawed at them.  There were some fat hand prints all over the coolers as well, which begs the question... can raccoons open a locked cooler?  

It rained all night, so we packed up in the AM and headed home, setting up the tent in the front yard to dry.  Booo rain, awesome weekend - especially the company. 

Melissa is doing great.  So beautiful.  Her belly is growing and so is the baby.  Over the next few weeks the baby will add about 5 more pounds.  We'll post a belly picture soon.  Melissa used to laugh at me for falling asleep early at night - now baby has her wiped out by 9 PM every night.  I cant imagine what its like to carry a baby.

How I see it!-Love Duncan

As the head dog of the house, I have a few things to say about this baby that mom and dad keep talking about.

First off, I will still rule the roost. I am still the first "baby" of the house.



Second, what is all that junk in the other bedroom. All I have to say is that stuff better be the funiture to my new palace. That's right, I deserve a palace.


Third, this better not mean that I lose my right to cuddling with mom and dad. Also, they should remember the word "treat".


Apparently mom went to the doctor and got some clarification about the due date. Because of what they saw on the ultrasound and the records that were sent from the other doctor, the due date has been changed to the 17th of October. A little later than the original (October 9th), but still before Halloween. At least that means that dad will get his way and the baby can get dresesed up and not me. The doctor said that he wouldn't allow the baby to go more than a week past the 17th. Everything else is good. The heartbeat is strong and moms belly is measuring normal. Mom isn't thrilled that her belly button is starting to pop out a little....ewwwwww!


Other than that, I think that I will go back to my chewy now. I will keep you updated as more information comes to my attention.

What a great break!

We both enjoyed an extended break from work this week. Melissa had a few days off towards the middle of last week and we both had off on the 4th. Here's what we did!

On the 3rd we went to the outdoor movie theatre in Woodbury, what a blast. Joe, Lisa and Max joined us to watch Hancock and the Incredible Hulk! It was 2:30 when the 3rd movie was about to start. I had already snoozed through some of the Hulk...

We had co-workers over on the 4th for a cookout and our neighbor Zack taught us his knowledge of rum, not to mention his pilot stories. It was a mellow night and we got to see fireworks from afar... certainly better than dealing with traffic!

We may have slept in a little on Saturday, but then we went over to see the Dessart clan and Ciara. We watched another Twins victory before coming home. Melissa can now "belly up" to the table and we can see the baby kick through her shirt. How sweet is that!

Today we went shopping after church and watched the Twins game. Ethan was a mini-mascot at the stadium! We didn't see him on TV, but I am sure it was a blast - he was thrilled when we talked about it on Saturday. The entire family was decked out in Twins gear. We setup the ottoman and rocker :) and we are nearly set with the babies room! I went out for a nice run just after the storm swept through.

Here's a quick update on what's going on in our land:

• I started in a new area as a MP manager - Food Avenue and Starbucks. You know, the cafe area. Check it out!
• Melissa started a honey-do list. It's awesome and achievable, but I've never had one before.
• I was re-baptized a few weeks ago at our church. God has challenged me is awesome ways.
• Melissa is gloating the the boys won out in our baby poll. However, she did have a random dream that she had a girl! Go ahead, ask her about that one.
• I have started running again and will be going after the Gopher to Badger half marathon in a few weeks. It sounds like we might have a nice crew from church running. That'd be cool!
• Melissa is sleeping and so should I. She will not be running the race :) She'll be an awesome cheerleader as she was last year in the heat!

A Day for a Cookout

Well - the 4th of July is here. Fun with co-workers this afternoon with a BBQ and watching some fireworks. The weather is beautiful, Melissa looks stunning in her new sweater and maternity clothes and we are among great friends.

I just want to take a second before everyone gets here to remember what this day is all about, our freedom. We couldn't be enjoying this day without those brave men and women who protected us years ago and those fighting to preserve our freedom today. Today we all remember those whom we've lost and pray for a happy, healthy and speedy return for those still fighting for our freedom. May God protect them and their families on this special day. That being said... it's time to enjoy an amazing day.

July 4th

Well, I thought that I would post an update from the last couple of weeks. Not too much going on. Adam's mom came out this past weekend to visit. We went to the Twins/Brewers game on Saturday night. It's always fun going to the games, even though it was quite a boring game and the Twins lost.

The baby is doing great and growing well. I added the most recent picture of my belly. It is getting there. The baby is about a pound and a half. We are at 24 weeks now. I have another doctor's appointment in a couple of weeks. I have this week off which has been nice to be able to rest. the baby moves so much now. The other night it was going crazy and rollling around. The feeling was strange because it wasn't a kick, it was rolling from one side to the other. Now I can just look down and see random kicks and my belly jumps. Adam still gets kicked in the mouth when he talks to the baby. It is such an indescribable feeling. Everytime Adam talks to my belly, the baby goes crazy. I love it!!

We have all of the baby furniture up, but we don't have anything put in its place yet. We were in search of a glider and it was never in stock when we went to Target, so we ordered it online. It should be here in a few days. Once we get more done, we will post another picture.

I started a "honey do" list for the summer before the baby comes and I know that Adam is looking forward to that!! We don't have too much to do, but still things nonetheless.
