Week 31 Update

In about 8 weeks, we will be mommy and daddy to a newborn. Wow. So cool! As a father to be, I've got to say that the constant excitement that I have had since we found out has begun to ramp up... I didn't think that was possible.

More than once I have found myself walking by the baby's room and I'll stop in to imagine what it will be like to see our little bundle of joy sleeping. Or crying. Or cooing. A lot of emotion, all good, fills my heart. I've been dreaming about this for years.

Now I can spend some more time in baby's room! It's primed and ready for our little one. The walls are a little bare (until we can decorate with gender specific decor), but we just put the finishing touches on. The rocking chair now has a home, although I liked it in the cluttered downstairs - just not practical. Pictures are below, enjoy!
Melissa looks phenomenal. I am not sure how she does it, but she makes it look easy and keeps a smile on her face. That's signature Melissa. On tap for the week: State Fair (everything on a stick), baby class, doctor appointment (Friday) and starting to pack that "hospital bag".

What I did this weekend, oops we're late addition

Okay, so this would be what we did last weekend the 15th.
We went home to GB for 2 weddings and to look for a car. The first wedding was on Friday night. Our friend from high school that we graduated with got married on Friday night. We had tons of fun and discovered that Adam and the groom, Chris, have the same exact wedding bands. Kind of funny:)
On Saturday we got up and went to the Toyota dealer and looked at a couple of cars. We drove the old Saturn home and we knew it was time to get a better family car. We test drove a Corolla and a Camry. We settled on the Camry due to the size and knowing that we would have to have this car for a while and grow into it with another child in the future. (Chill out Grandma's, there is only one in the oven for now!) We went back and forth a little. We have been so used to not having car payment, that the thought wasn't the most appealing of having one. However, we did get a brand new 2009 Blue Camry. I LOVE IT!!! It is a great car!!


After the car trip, we went to my cousin Evan's wedding. Ate a little food and talked with some family and old neighbors that I haven't seen in a while. That was fun. Then we headed home and went to bed. Got back to MPLS on Sunday afternoon and then back to the week. Then, we made some more adjustments to the babies room..... Adam will fill you in!!!

"Blowout Poll"

Well, thank you all for your votes - with pride I will change the first "blowout" from baby Delveaux. However, because you voted for me - I will strike revenge by posting pictures.

Little voice in your head is asking, "Is he serious?" He jokes a lot... must be kidding. Wait and see my friends, wait and see.

31 weeks!

We had our 31 week doctor visit today! Everything continues to go well. For you mythical fanatics out there, the heartbeat was 140 for the baby. I don't know what they say about the heart rate and whether it will be a boy or a girl, but you guys can take your guess! The babies head is facing down and is around 3 pounds now. We go again at 33 and 35 weeks and then start to visit weekly after that. That went by very fast!!!

Duncan has been a really good boy! We have gone across the street to the field the last couple of nights and let him run around without us holding on to his leash! He likes to play fetch with his squeaker ball and barbell!! He carried the barbell all the way home the other night. It was pretty cute!

We are home this weekend in GB for a couple of weddings and taking a look at cars. A short weekend, but it will be nice to come home for a bit. We always wish the drive was shorter, but for me it is a good time to sleep!!! yay!

After watching all of the olympics, I would like to compete in an eating contest, breakfast of course, with Michael Phelps and see who wins!!! He may have some competition there, considering he doesn't have much in the pool! WOW, he is an amazing swimmer. For those of you who may be a little confused, you can google Michael Phelps diet. He eats about 12,000 calories a day due to all of the swimming he does in the pool!!

One Year Later - 35W bridge

Below you will see a before and after construction picture of the 35W bridge collapse, this is the same picture location from one year to the next. The work these folks have put in is amazing...

Melissa and I took a nice walk around the "U" (ok, we went to Ben and Jerry's and went to the superblock to eat). We took Duncan for a walk and took pictures of the bridge reconstruction. Very cool, hope you enjoy. Below is a picture of the scaffolding on a section they were working on. I love the flags blowing in the wind and the skyline of downtown in the background.

Twins...

I wont talk about the MN Twins for once (although I could) and I wont talk about Brett Favre and my opinions (maybe some other time)... I am talking about doggie twins.

Max and Duncan.

Max is our good friend Joe and Lisa's dog. They live in our neighborhood and we met through the dogs... it's such a cool story that's grown into a cool friendship.

Nonetheless, here is a picture of these guys laying by Melissa this weekend (taken with the new camera monster). Please note Melissa's AWESOME sandal tan. It's sweet.

Delveaux Baby Watch: Week 29

As Melissa mentioned, we were at the Dr. earlier this week and things were great... they continue to be great, awesome in fact. Melissa is adorable and I keep taking quick glances over to smile and reflect on what an amazing world God has given us. Five feet away, my beautiful wife, our child and our dog (child at times) are relaxing and taking in a beautiful summer night.

Life is great!

This weekend was packed full - housework, car searching and more housework. We put up a nice storm door with a screen that rolls into the top of the door. Our friend Joe help me with the chores, couldn't have done it without him... things look awesome and that breeze... whew!

Since it's public knowledge, I have got to share another cool story - Jon and Elizabeth are expecting their first child in January! Congrats friends, enjoy this ride... I know you will. Jon and I are close friends. I only pray distance disappears and our children will grow as close friends as we have become.

Here's to a happy and healthy parenting journey for JB and Elizabeth. Let the countdown begin.
